Volunteers on this project work in veterinary clinics in and around the bustling Indian city of Madurai. Everyday you have the possibility of seeing something new. You would assist the local vets with the treatment and care of domestic animals and livestock, and will see how the medical care of animals differs from the Western world. You may even have the chance to observe and take part in more complex procedures, whilst gaining a life changing insight into the friendly and welcoming Indian culture.
Volunteers may also have the opportunity to accompany vets on outreach programmes and farm visits. Here, you will be able to see how veterinary medicine functions within a different culture and will also have a unique insight into how important the well-being of livestock is to Indian communities.
