Sunday Lead & Part Time Animal Support

East Clayton Farm is an inclusive charity, based between Washinton and Storrington. Our aims to provide a better quality of life for vulnerable people through land-based engagement.

Our animals are at the heart of everything we do at East Clayton Farm, we have donkeys, sheep, goats, lambs, reptiles, ducks, chickens, turkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits and pigs. Our menagerie is every growing meaning we’re looking for an additional member to join our fun and supportive animal team.

Sunday Lead & Part Time Animal Support

Duties to include, but not limited to;

  • Working alongside our weekend staff and volunteers to provide outstanding care to our wonderful animal team.​​​​
  • Volunteers make a valuable contribution to the work of East Clayton Farm and supporting them forms an important part of this role. You will be responsible for ensuring that volunteers working alongside you are able to carry out tasks safely, confidently and in line with agreed standards. This may involve providing direction, coaching, and constructive feedback, as well as identifying when additional support or training is required. Any significant concerns should be escalated to your Line Manager in accordance with organisational procedures.
  • All normal animal husbandry jobs, including cleaning shelters, cleaning paddocks, assisting with field management, providing medical care when needed and performing daily health checks on the animals.
  • Ensuring all tasks are completed correctly and to a high standard.
  • Work in a manor, consistent with Health and Safety guidance and Farm policies
  • Communicate any issues to Line Manager and Livestock Manager.

Requirements

  • ​Experience managing people is essential for this role. Experience managing volunteers preferred.
  • Experience with large animals is essential, experience with small animals including reptiles is also very valuable. Interest and willingness to learn to care for all of our animals is crucial.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Kind and caring attitude.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when required.
  • Good work ethic.
  • Flexible and reliable.
  • Over 18's only, as sole charge will sometimes be required.

Hours

  • Sunday, 9am-1pm (4hr/week) PLUS an additional weekday (8am-12pm)
  • ​Salary £12 - £14ph depending on experience.
